UCR (UNIFIED CARRIER REGISTRATION) IS REQUIRED AND YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE CAUGHT WITHOUT IT!
The UCR ( unified carrier registration )plan replaces the single state registration. It is an annual required registration that must be in place when you file for your authority.
WHO IS REQUIRED TO REGISTER AND PAY FEES UNDER THE UCR SYSTEM?
1. Operations requiring a USDOT # for "interstate" transportation.
2. Operations requiring a MC or MX # from FMCSA (regulated authority)
3. Interstate Brokers
4. Interstate Leasing Companies
5. Interstate freight forwarders.
This is a mandatory annual registration and you could be fined or worse if you do not have it. This is a State registration and the States like to see this paid each November for the new year.
The Unified carrier registration (UCR) is not a permit or cab card, it is a filing on your dot. So when you go through the scales or get pulled over, they will run your dot and will be checking to see if you have the Unified carrier registration (UCR).
There are a couple of states that do not participate in the UCR and if you are in these states you are still required to register. Your base state would just become a neighbor state.
The Unified carrier registration fees are based on number of vehicles.
